Modern Open Plan Living on a Steeply Sloping Block
Site Plan
Down a steeply sloping bank the existing home sat well below street level making car parking on site impossible. By adding a third storey and an almost level timber bridge car parking problems were solved with a double carport and level walkway to the entry. Once almost hidden the home now makes a modern and dynamic addition to the streetscape.
New Floor Plan
This extra floor provides easy access to the new entry. On this level the main bedroom suite takes maximum advantage of the ocean views. An open tread staircase leads down to the second main level with an open plan living-dining-kitchen area opening onto a large timber deck capturing the views. With all major rooms now facing the ocean the remodeled home is functional, light and comfortable.
Capture The Views
On the second main level all the internal walls were demolished to provide an open plan living-dining-kitchen area opening onto a large timber deck capturing the views. At the front the old deck was remodeled to provide a sheltered retreat under the carport.
